Our Mission
At the Mlezi 22 Collective, we believe that every rider deserves the chance to come home safely. Our mission is to save lives by ensuring motorcycle riders in emerging economies have access to quality helmets. Starting in Kenya and expanding across Africa, we work to reduce the risks faced by couriers, food delivery drivers, Boda Boda drivers, and others who depend on their motorcycles and motorbikes to provide for their families.
More than a safety initiative, Mlezi 22 unites riders worldwide. Whether through donated helmets, corporate sponsorships, or volunteer support, we bring communities together to create meaningful, practical change.
Victor’s Story
Victor T. Johnson, the founder of Mlezi 22, knows firsthand the life-changing impact of having the right safety gear. As a seasoned motorcycle rider and member of a prominent rider group, Victor has not only navigated winding mountain roads and chaotic urban traffic but also survived accidents that could have ended his life.
One day while dodging a pothole, Vic and his bike found themselves flying—and the landing left him shaken but alive. This was a huge reminder of how crucial a quality helmet can be. Over the years, his travels to places like Kenya opened his eyes to the devastating consequences faced by riders who lack proper helmets—particularly those who rely on motorcycles to support their families.
Although this project was in the works for years prior, Victor’s journey to create Mlezi 22 was jump-started by a personal loss. After losing his mother, Victor reflected deeply on how unfinished dreams often go to the grave. Inspired to take action, he channeled his inheritance into bringing his own dream to full life: a nonprofit that blends his passion for riding with his commitment to saving lives.
Today, Mlezi 22 stands as a guardian for riders, dedicated to providing access to quality helmets for those who need them most.
